Model Headshots & Portfolio Photography
A strong model portfolio isn't simply a collection of good photographs. It needs to show what you look like, how you photograph, where you might fit and the range you can bring in front of the camera.
At Not Normal Photography, our model photography services are designed for new, developing and working models who need professional images for agency submissions, casting, model digitals and portfolio development. Whether you're taking your first steps into modelling, approaching agencies, replacing outdated digitals or developing a more versatile portfolio, we build the session around what your photographs actually need to accomplish.
If you're new to modelling, you don't need to arrive with an established portfolio or know exactly what agencies expect. You also don't need to already know how to pose. That's part of what we're here for. Before your session, we'll look at your goals and what you're hoping to do with the photographs so we can approach the session with a clear purpose rather than simply taking a collection of unrelated images.
Throughout your session, Hayley provides professional direction with posing, positioning, movement, expression and camera presence. Modelling often comes down to surprisingly small details — the position of a hand, the angle of your shoulders, where your weight sits, how you move between poses or a subtle change in expression. We'll work through those details with you rather than expecting you to walk into the studio already knowing what to do.
For models, accuracy is particularly important. Model digitals exist to give agencies and casting professionals a straightforward representation of your current appearance. They aren't intended to be glamorous portraits or heavily edited photographs. We keep them clean and simple, using straightforward lighting and minimal retouching so your features, skin texture, proportions and overall appearance remain naturally recognizable.
Portfolio photography has a different job. Once the essential images are covered, we can begin showing more of what you can do in front of the camera. Changes in wardrobe, lighting, backgrounds, posing, movement and expression can create very different photographs and help demonstrate versatility without turning you into somebody you aren't. Depending on your goals, that might include commercial, lifestyle, fashion, editorial or other appropriate directions.
We also don't believe in creating variety simply by changing an outfit and taking essentially the same photograph again. As the sessions progress through our larger packages, each look can be approached more intentionally, allowing the photography itself to change alongside the wardrobe. The aim is to build a collection where each image has a reason to be there.
Our three model photography services provide different starting points depending on what you currently need. Model Essentials focuses on clean, current agency-style digitals. Model Core combines those fundamentals with more developed portfolio imagery and greater photographic variety. Model Showcase is our most comprehensive model session, providing multiple looks, a broader portfolio collection and a professionally designed digital comp card.
You don't need to know which photographs belong in your portfolio before you arrive. We'll help guide the process based on your experience, goals and the areas of modelling you're interested in pursuing.
The result should be more than photographs you like. It should be a current, professional and genuinely representative collection that helps agencies, casting professionals and potential clients understand what you look like, how you photograph and what you could bring to their project.
