Talent Photography Services

For actors and models, the right photographs need to do more than look good — they need to work for the industry you’re trying to enter or progress within.


At Not Normal Photography, our Talent Photography services are built around creating professional, purposeful imagery that represents you accurately while meeting the expectations of agents, casting professionals and potential clients. Whether you're just starting out, updating existing images or developing your portfolio as your career progresses, every session begins with understanding what you need the photographs to accomplish.


Talent photography is different from a traditional portrait session. While we still want to create strong, polished photographs, the purpose isn't simply to produce your favourite picture of yourself. These images need to communicate something useful about you — your appearance, personality, presence, versatility and the types of opportunities you may be suited to. That purpose influences everything from wardrobe and styling to lighting, expression and composition.


You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what photographs you need or how to create them. That's our job. We'll help you prepare before your session and provide professional direction throughout, including wardrobe, posing, expression, lighting and presentation. The aim is to make the process straightforward while giving you images that have a clear purpose once they leave the studio.


Being comfortable in front of a camera doesn't necessarily happen the moment you walk through the door, either. We allow time for you to settle into the session and work with you throughout it rather than expecting you to already know how to pose or perform for the camera. Small changes in posture, expression and movement can make an enormous difference, and you'll receive direction throughout so you're never left wondering what you're supposed to be doing.

We also recognize that talent photography isn't one-size-fits-all. Your images should represent your appearance, personality, strengths and potential rather than making you look like somebody else. Our approach is photographer-led and intentional, with each session shaped around the individual in front of the camera.


Accuracy matters. Agents and casting professionals need to see the person who will actually walk through the door. Our editing and finishing therefore remain appropriate to the purpose of the photographs. The goal is a professional result without losing the features, character and individuality that make you recognizable as you.


Our private Langley studio also gives us the ability to work in a controlled environment where lighting, backgrounds and other photographic elements can be adjusted intentionally throughout the session. This allows us to concentrate on the details and create variety where it's useful, rather than simply producing more photographs for the sake of having more.


The result is a collection of current, professional and genuinely representative photographs designed to help you present yourself confidently and take the next step — whether that's approaching representation, submitting for opportunities, updating your materials or continuing to build your professional portfolio.
